Together We RISE: Rewarding Investments through Smart Education

Hello RISE Impact Enthusiasts,

We have some exciting updates and opportunities to share with you. Here's a recap of what's been happening:

Featured Podcast

Heather Beatty, from the RISE community, was recently featured on the podcast Beyond Carbon, hosted by the Intentional Endowment Network (IEN). This episode dives into climate solutions in the public markets landscape, focusing on sustainable and responsible investments. You can listen to it here.

New Investment Initiatives

There has been a significant increase in green energy investments, particularly in sectors like healthcare and agri-food, which are seen as robust even in uncertain economic climates. This trend underscores the resilience of impact investing, as these sectors address fundamental needs such as health and food security (Impact Investor, KEY ESG).

Focus on Women-led Funds

A notable shift is occurring with more wealth being transferred to women, who are increasingly directing funds towards women-led initiatives. This trend is expected to build a more equitable economy and drive substantial social impact (ImpactAlpha).

As a reminder, RISE maintains a comprehensive database of private vetted, exclusive, impactful investments that includes everything from startups to established funds and real estate, spanning all areas of impact. These opportunities vary; some have specific participation qualifications, while others are more accessible. We do this because we all have different levels of savings, communities, and can participate in impact at different levels. Either way, as always, let's share this valuable knowledge of values aligned investing with our loved ones, including our children (it's never too early to start!), friends, and broader community. With that said, let's explore this week’s impactful opportunity.

Why Women Should Invest in Venture Capital

Venture capital is about more than just money. It’s about driving change and creating opportunities. As women, we have a unique power to shape the future through our investments. Here’s why venture capital should matter to you:

What is Venture Capital?

Venture capital is money invested in new businesses—startups—that have big potential but need help to grow. Think of it as planting seeds in a garden, nurturing them, and watching them bloom into something amazing.

Empowering Women

For a long time, men dominated venture capital, but that’s changing. More women are stepping up and bringing fresh ideas. By investing in venture capital, we can support other women who are starting their own businesses. This creates a ripple effect, empowering more women to succeed.

Investing in What Matters

As women, we often see needs that others might overlook. We invest in companies that create products and services important to us, such as:

  • Health and Wellness: Innovations in women's health, mental wellness, and family care.

  • Education: Tools and resources that help children and adults learn and grow.

  • Sustainable Living: Products that protect the environment and promote a healthier lifestyle.

Making a Difference

Venture capital isn’t just about making money; it’s about making a difference. When you invest in companies that align with your values, you help solve real-world problems. Imagine supporting a startup that provides clean water to communities or creates eco-friendly products—your investment can change lives.

Financial Returns

While venture capital is about impact, it also offers the potential for significant financial returns. Investing in startups can lead to high rewards as these companies grow and succeed. It's a chance to boost your financial future while supporting businesses you believe in.  The fund partners would do the work to find companies worthy of investment, ensuring that your money supports innovative and impactful startups.

Creating a Legacy

Investing in venture capital isn’t just about now; it’s about the future. It’s about building something that reflects your values and leaves a positive mark on the world. By supporting startups, you’re helping to create a better future for the next generation.

Why Now?

There are more opportunities than ever for women to get involved in venture capital. With more women-focused investment groups and resources available, now is the perfect time to start.

How to Begin

  1. Learn the Basics: Understand what venture capital is and how it works.

  2. Connect with Others: Join networks to meet other women in the field.

  3. Start Small: Consider starting small.

  4. Seek Advice: Don’t hesitate to ask for help.

The Future is Ours

By investing in venture capital, we’re not just supporting businesses; we’re investing in ourselves and our communities. Together, we can create a world where more women succeed and lead. The future is bright, and it starts with us. Let’s take that step, break new ground, and make a lasting impact.
