What Are Your Financial Goals?

Make your financial goals clear and achievable. Whether they are short-term, like saving for a vacation or establishing an emergency fund, or long-term, like generating passive income for retirement.

Remember, each goal should be SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

Ask yourself:

  • What level of passive income am I aiming for?

  • What is my desired net worth?

  • What is my tax strategy?

Decoding Your Investment DNA

Your Investment DNA is made up of several key elements: your financial goals, your risk tolerance, the time you can commit to your investments, your knowledge of different asset types, and the causes that matter to you most.

  1. Time Commitment: Some investments, called active investments, require you to be hands-on as an active investor. Others, called passive investments, use more of a 'set it and forget it' strategy. So consider how much time you're willing to commit when choosing an investment strategy.

  2. Asset Classes: The more you familiarize yourself with different investment options, or asset classes—whether its real estate, metals, bonds, or private equity—the better your investment decisions will be. Knowing more asset classes allows you to diversify your portfolio, which is a key tactic to how the wealthy invest.

  3. Values and Impact Objectives: Setting your values and impact objectives is at the core of your investment DNA. We're not just looking for financial returns here; we want our investments to make a positive difference in the world. So think about the causes that matter to you and how you want to approach impact-based investing.

  4. Risk Appetite: This is all about how much risk you're comfortable taking on. We want to break down the stereotype that women are risk-averse. Your risk appetite is really about being cautious and making informed decisions. When you pair education with collaboration, navigating risk becomes a lot more manageable and less intimidating.

Understanding these elements helps you crack the code to your unique Investment DNA! And remember, your Investment DNA isn't set in stone. Life changes, and so will your financial goals and strategies. That's why it's important to regularly check in and fine-tune your investment approach to make sure it still aligns with who you are and where you're going.

Knowing what motivates you to invest will allow you the freedom to explore impact-based investing opportunities.

Introducing The Money Date: A Dual Purpose Date Night

Financial disagreements are said to account for 20-40% of all divorces. A new trend sweeping the internet is working to combat this statistic by implementing a fun new way to talk about money with your partner: The Money Date.

A Money Date is a date night planned with the specific goal of providing a safe space for you and your partner to talk about money. This Money Date night can be scheduled quarterly or monthly, depending on your goals as a couple and your money management methods. Many couples are setting the date night up to be an event they both look forward to, booking a reservation at a nice restaurant or pairing it with a new outfit.

“Advisers and relationship counselors say couples who go on regular money dates can better manage their spending, saving and investing. [...] Having regular open discussions about financial decisions in a fun and intimate way can help address any troubles before they become a source of resentment,” says Julia Carpenter.
